This qualification has been designed to take advantage of the needs and opportunities within the soft tissue treatment industry. Graduates are able to use a high level of treatment and injury assessment. It covers the provision of advanced massage treatment to clients with specific needs such as injury management, rehabilitation, palliative care, aged care, women and children. Practitioners at this level may supervise other massage therapists.
Prerequisites: Diploma of Remedial Massage (or equivalent). Students wanting this qualification will need to complete the Diploma before enrolling in the Advanced Diploma.
Length of Course: 5 weekends plus a business project.
Delivery of Content: The course is spit into six units, for five of the units theory and practical is taught over a weekend, the student is then required to practice a minimum of 30 hours prior to being assessed. The sixth unit is Business which is offered as a project.
RPL and Credit Transfer: Students are encouraged to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning based on formal learning or work history. Those with First Aid, Communication and OH&S knowledge are usually exempted from these subjects.
Students may choose to do their 30 hour practical component in the College’s Student Clinic at no extra cost, or alternatively undertake their practical component at a facility external to the College, but with prior approval of the College. Special arrangements can be made for interstate or country student, details on request.
Assessment will be by observed practical competency in the College’s Student
Clinic, FAQ and/or Client Information Sheets. There are no written examinations
or written assignments for the course.
